Budapest, renovation of existing 95 m long, 3.20 m wide public utility and pedestrian bridge at the entrance to the winter docks (Meder Street), including renovation of the stairwell tower on the Pest side and the straight stairs on the island side. The bridge has two supports, with consoles in both directions. The span is 65 m, the consoles are 15 m long on both ends. The stairwell tower is a 2.5 storey structure, 15.5 m tall and 10.00 m wide. The straight stairs are 21.1 m long and 3.2 m wide.

Contractor’s task consisted of removal of loose, crumbling concrete from the stairwell tower and the straight stairs, protective treatment of any exposed rebar, repair of the concrete surfaces using PCC mortar and installation of new salt protection layer. The walking surfaces received B-5 pavements, all other visible surfaces received B-3 coats.

Contractor’s task also included renovation of the paintwork on the railings along the bridge structure, the cleaning of gullies and renovation of the dilatation. At the riveted joints of the bridge structure, the corrosion protection coat had to be repaired. Inside the bridge and along the slab, corrosion protection coats also had to be repaired in places.

The roof insulation of the stairwell tower was removed and new bituminous plate insulation was installed, with new tin plating on top of the parapet walls.

The bottom part of the stairwell tower had steel grilles installed to protect against vandalism.

The railing of the stairs on the island side had to be removed and new steel railings had to be installed with duplex protection.
